The origin of this blog begs a story. I have always been an ice cream lover, but my love for it erupted during my freshman year of college in Connecticut.
During my visits home to Massachusetts, I would gather my friends at the local J.P. Licks for a hardcore ice cream experience. Over time I developed a passion for ice cream and it’s ability to bring people together and provide a relaxing social experience. It became not just an opportunity to stuff my stomach, but also a chance to escape the rest of the tumultuous world we live in. My friends and I would sit, eat, laugh, and compare flavors. I also begged them for a sample of their flavors! This quickly became a tradition for me, and a great way to unwind after a hard day and bond with people whom I don’t see as often as I would like.
Fast forward to more recent times. I have actively sought out more places to try ice cream around Massachusetts or wherever life may take me. I visited the Phantom Gourmet web site to find previously unsampled ice cream parlors. I also got some from Boston Magazine’s web site. After looking at this list recently, I thought it might be fun to review them all in a cultural and culinary manner.
I have to give credit to a website called Burritophile. I stumbled upon this website a while ago, and it gave me the ice cream review blog idea. Burritophile is a terrific web site that gives net users a database of good burrito joints to help fellow burritophiles in their time of chipotle sauce need. I was truly inspired by their website, with the belief that no ice cream brother in arms shall be left scoopless on a mid-summer night.
